A. Definition of Application Letter

Job application letter is a letter made by a job applicant for a certain position for acceptance in an agency. In writing a job application letter, it is not always based on one format. But there are many formats or versions that can be used according to the needs of job applicants.

B. Function Application Letter

In addition to working as a communication tool with job applicants, job application letters also work as an initial assessment tool whether they are suitable to be placed in the chosen position or included in the application letter or not.

C. Parts of the Application Letter

There are generally 3 parts to a job application letter. Here's the explanation:

1.) Greetings (opening)

Salutatio is the opening section that contains to whomever the letter is addressed. The format is,

Dear sir/madam (when you don't know the name and gender of the recipient)

Dear Mr./ Mrs./ Ms. Last name (when name and gender are known)

2.) Paragraph Body (content)

This section contains the gist of the letter. It also includes the last education or work experience and where the job vacancy was found. Complete CV and portfolio included in the envelope can also be included.

3.) Cover (cover)

The closing is the closing part that marks the end of the application letter.

D. Letter Section More Details

1.) Title of cover letter

This section usually contains the sender's name, city, country, phone number, email, recipient name, company name and address.

2.) Date Line

This section contains the date the letter was written. Usually placed above the header or below the header. Use of date is mandatory. Some include dates and some don't.

3.) Greetings

The greeting that is often used is "dear". In writing, the author must include the last name of the recipient and be given a comma.

Example:

Dear Mr Marko,

Or it can be replaced with Dear Sir, (for men) and Dear Madam, (for women) or you can also write Dear Madam or Sir, (if you don't know the gender)

4.) Paragraph 1

This paragraph contains personal information as well as the position/position chosen.

5.) Paragraph 2

In the second paragraph the author lists his personal skills and accomplishments to ensure that the author is a good fit for the position.

6.) Paragraph 3

In this section, the writer assures the recipient that the writer has the appropriate qualifications for the chosen position and hopes to be called for an interview.

Now, what about the related information in the letter?

let's see the explanation in my blog.

Text 1

Text 2

from the two texts above, what are the differences? and what information is contained in the text?

Look at the table below.

The information from the text, we know that:

  • Full name,
  • Phone number email,
  • Email,
  • Date,
  • Name of the Hiring Manager or their professional title,
  • Name of the company you're applying to.

What is meant by the table above in bold is the applicant's expertise and experience the applicant has.
